In order to secure a reliable supply of raw material that is adapted to the specific needs of its plants and that offers an optimal selection of different grades of paper, Cascades has set up an extensive recovery network with Cascades Recovery and its subsidiary Metro Waste Paper Recovery, together providing their North-American facilities with an increasing share of their raw materials.

 

More than two-thirds of the raw materials used by Cascades' various sectors of activity come mainly from fibres that have been recovered from our own operations. Since 1964, we have become recognized experts in the recovery and re-use of discarded materials, packaging and printed matter. Our programs provide alternatives to better protect the environment. During 2008, Cascades used 2.2 million tons of recycled fibres, which saved the equivalent of 37 million trees.
