Cascades and its employees donate a record-breaking $628,600 to Centraide Centre-du-Québec

Kingsey Falls, Québec, January 27, 2020 – Cascades is pleased to announce that, once again this year, its Kingsey Falls, Victoriaville and Drummondville units held an outstanding fundraising campaign for the benefit of Centraide Centre‐du‐Québec. Cascades and its employees raised $628,600 for the organization, a whopping $21,825 more than last year!

Because of the current circumstances surrounding the global pandemic, Centraide Centre-du-Québec, like many community organizations, saw needs increase significantly. "The pandemic has left many people vulnerable, and we've had to work extra hard, with the help of some 70 organizations, to meet demand. This annual campaign is more than necessary to ensure that people in the region who are in need can feed themselves and that they are physically and psychologically safe. The repercussions of the crisis continue, making every donation even more meaningful," said Valérye Bourassa, Acting Regional Manager of Centraide Centre-du-Québec.

This year, Alain Lemaire, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cascades, served as Chair of the Centraide Centre-du-Québec campaign. Mr. Lemaire has always been committed to the well-being of local people and communities. "Now more than ever, we have a collective responsibility to team up to help those who need it most. By working together, we can build a success story, and that's my hope for the 2020 campaign."

For several years now, Cascades management has matched the amount donated by its employees. This year, for the first time, the company decided to multiply by 1.5 all donations made by new employees, meaning those who are giving for the first time.  Not only has this initiative boosted the amount raised, it has also increased awareness of the cause. In fact, 270 more employees than last year are now giving to Centraide through payroll deductions.

The company would like to acknowledge the bold and proactive initiatives taken by the employees in each of Cascades' business units. They managed to implement original activities in adherence with public health measures and organized virtual events that boosted awareness of the cause and made it possible to raise funds even in these particular circumstances.

The success of Cascades' campaign was largely due to everyone's commitment and involvement! It's also important to underline the leadership of our management team, which, year after year, has offered unconditional support for the cause.

Centraide's mission is to end the cycle of poverty and isolation by taking action in areas that are likely to result in lasting and significant improvements in people's lives, in partnership with local organizations.
Cascaders can be proud of the difference they make each day in the lives of thousands of people!
